Dr. James McKinney D.C. · Functional Medicine

Helping people move better, heal deeper, and take ownership of their health.

I'm Dr. Jimmy McKinney, a chiropractor, functional medicine practitioner, founder, and lifelong problem-solver. My work centers on one mission: helping people find answers, regain function, and live with more confidence in their own bodies.
Healthcare isn't just about treating symptoms. It's about listening closely, asking better questions, and helping people understand what's really going on beneath the surface.

"Outside the clinic, I'm a husband, a father of two boys, and an outdoorsman who believes that nature heals what routine cannot. Sunshine, fresh air, time in the woods with my son, a quiet morning on the water, these aren't escapes from the work. They're part of it. The same stillness that makes a good hunter makes a good doctor. Slow down, pay attention, and trust what the body already knows."

My Story

From Lebanon County to a Calling.

I grew up in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, and built my career around serving the kind of hardworking people I was raised with. After studying Kinesiology and Exercise Science at Liberty University, I earned my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, and began practicing in 2013.

But my path into healthcare was never only academic. It became deeply personal.

After suffering with and overcoming chronic Lyme disease, I gained a very different understanding of what patients go through when they feel dismissed, exhausted, confused, or stuck between systems that don't seem to look at the whole picture.

That experience changed the way I practice. It sharpened my passion for helping people who have been told to simply live with their symptoms. It pushed me to look beyond quick fixes and toward practical strategies that support the body as a whole.

The Practice

Why I Founded Blue Mountain Wellness?

I founded Blue Mountain Wellness to create a place where people could receive thoughtful, results-driven care without feeling rushed or reduced to a diagnosis. The goal was never to build a typical clinic. The goal was to build a better experience for people looking for non-surgical, drug-free, and whole-person approaches to health.

Over the years, my work has focused heavily on chiropractic care, functional medicine, neuropathy, chronic nerve pain, and helping patients improve their quality of life. Whether someone is struggling with pain, numbness, balance issues, inflammation, fatigue, or long-term health challenges, I believe the starting point is the same: listen carefully, evaluate thoroughly, and create a plan that makes sense for the person in front of you.

Blue Mountain Wellness grew from that belief. It reflects my commitment to combining advanced clinical tools with a grounded, personal approach to care.

The Approach

I Believe the Body Wants to Heal.

These four convictions shape everything I do in practice.

i.
Healing starts with better questions.
Too often, people are handed temporary answers without anyone slowing down to ask why the problem is happening. The best care starts by understanding the full picture, lifestyle, movement, inflammation, nutrition, stress, history, and the body's ability to adapt.
ii.
The body is designed to heal, with the right support.
My role isn't to force the body into a short-term response. It's to help identify what may be interfering with function and support the systems that allow healing to happen naturally.
iii.
People deserve options.
Many of the people I meet are trying to avoid unnecessary medications, procedures, or years of symptom management. Patients deserve to understand their options and participate in decisions about their own care.
iv.
Real care is personal.
No two people arrive with the same story. The best outcomes often come from combining clinical experience with genuine curiosity about the individual, not a protocol applied to everyone.

Areas of Focus

An Integrated Philosophy for Long-term Health.

My professional work centers on helping people improve function, reduce interference, and support the body's natural ability to recover.

01

Chiropractic care

Restoring movement, improving function, and helping the body operate with less stress and compensation.

02

Functional medicine

Looking for underlying patterns that may contribute to chronic symptoms, inflammation, fatigue, or poor recovery.

03

Neuropathy & nerve health

Supporting people dealing with numbness, tingling, burning, balance issues, and chronic nerve-related symptoms.

04

Non-surgical, drug-free care

Helping patients explore conservative options before relying on more invasive paths.

05

Patient education

Giving people clear explanations, practical next steps, and a better understanding of their own health.

Beyond the Clinic

Builder by Nature

I'm a builder by nature. In addition to clinical practice, I care deeply about entrepreneurship, digital strategy, content creation, and using technology to make education more accessible. Whether I'm working on a website, developing a patient education resource, or creating video content, I'm usually thinking about the same question: how can this help someone take the next right step?

Outside of work, I'm an Eagle Scout and an outdoor enthusiast. I enjoy time outdoors with my wife, Carley, kayaking, fishing, biking, and exploring the kind of places that remind me why health and freedom matter so much in the first place.

A Personal Note

If you've ever felt like your body was working against you, I understand.

I also know how powerful it is when someone finally helps you connect the dots. That's the work I care about. Not surface-level answers. Not one-size-fits-all care. Real conversations, better questions, practical solutions, and a sincere commitment to helping people move forward.

My story has taken me from student to doctor, from patient to practitioner, and from local provider to founder. Through every stage, the purpose has stayed the same: help people live better by helping them understand and care for the body they have.

If that resonates with you, I'd be glad to connect.
